Welcome to HIS Niseko!
I hope that these pages will give you an insight into the amazing learning happening at Hokkaido International School- Niseko. Please feel free to contact us for a tour of our facilities. We are always proud to show off all that we do.
Hokkaido International School Niseko is set in the wonderful environment of Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan. It is situated in the valley between Mount Yotei and the Niseko Annupuri Mountain Range. From October to May, it is blessed with powder snow.
We are an elementary school that provides a western-style education from preschool through 6th grade for students of all nationalities. Currently, our students are from Japan, Canada, Australia, China, Korea, Vietnam, New Zealand, and England. Our teachers are from the United States, Australia, Singapore, and Japan. We are accredited with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Our 6th-grade students have the option to continue their learning with our main campus in Sapporo.
We are a Reggio-Emilia inspired International School. We offer an elementary international curriculum to our students that prepares them for middle school at the HIS Sapporo. The Language Arts and Maths Curriculum are developed by the Curriculum Team with input and assistance from the classroom teachers. Science, History, Geography, Society, Technology and the Arts are delivered through The International Primary Curriculum. All curriculum is resourced with a variety of materials from England, Australia, the United States, and Canada. The thematic standard-based units of the IPC allow for easy integration across the subject areas and differentiated learning opportunities.
While HIS cannot admit students with profound learning difficulties, HIS Niseko is able to accommodate students with mild special needs. Continued enrollment is always dependent upon a student’s satisfactory achievement, behavior, and effort. We do not as yet have a waiting list to enter our school.
We have an incredible parent community led by our indomitable PTA.
Feel free to contact our administrative assistant to arrange a tour of our school or to meet with me in person. I look forward to connecting with you and your family in the near future.
