Head of School
Secondary Student Speech Contest
Last week’s student speech competition was a wonderful opportunity for HIS secondary students to demonstrate the progress they have made in standing before their peers and teachers and demonstrate that they have taken another step towards being the effective Husky communicators they aim to be.
A large thanks is due to faculty-emeritus, Ms. Amalie Aseltine, who advised the Speech Club and coached the thirteen students through the development of and presentation process of their speeches. Ms. Aseltine volunteered her services to the this process and we and the students who benefited from her work owe her an immense debt of gratitude for what she has achieved.
Finally, congratulations are to be extended to all participants and in particular the three finalists whose strong performance lead to their selection. Finalists were: Sashsa Shin (Grade 11 - 1st place), Kate Fukui (Grade 12 - 2nd) and Raja (Grade 8 - 3rd).

The MS girls basketball team had a fantastic time at the tournament in Kobe. There was plenty of action for them on the court and lots of fun off the court exploring the snow free playground and meeting new friends from other schools. We were clearly the youngest team there as we did not have any gr8 players and lacked a bit in game time experience. Marist Bulldogs beat us by only 3 points in a thriller, KIUA Flames were very powerful and we were fairly evenly matched against the Canadian Academy Falcons. Congratulations to Ena who was named our most valuable player and she also came 2nd in the shooting competition. Riho, Sari, Ena, Hana and kate were alo winners in the `long Bomb` competition. Thanks so much to Mrs Katayama who came along as the chaperone.
Futsul players continue to work hard in the gym for their upcoming tournament in Osaka.
Go Huskies !
