Welcome to ‘60 Years of Leaning’ at HIS
Opening Ceremony brought out the largest annual turn out of parents, students and students and staff. It was an exciting opportunity to welcome and welcome back a community on such an exciting year as this, our 60th anniversary year.

_DSC9408.jpg

After students briefly met their classroom and homeroom teachers, they rejoined their parents (post a PTA meeting) to form a giant 60 on the back field while their parents and teacher surrounded them in in a giant circle. This a fun first activity for the year and a great photo opportunity.

We will be hosting other 60th Anniversary Events across the school year. These will include:

  • The Formal Opening of the New Dormitory addition.
  • Screening of the HIS Documentary
  • 60th Anniversary Gala Event
  • 60th Anniversary Piano Concert

Dorm 2 to Dorm New!!
Dreams do become realities and this has definitely been the experience for the HIS community as it first conceived of, developed and then realized construction of the new dormitory addition.

When we left school on June 14, the dorm was still a wrapped up construction project, however, Huskies were treated to a pleasant surprise when they came back to school to see the completed dormitory addition and an additional “face” to the school’s appearance.

This has allowed the rented “Dorm 2” students to move up to the main campus and join their fellow dorm students in the original dorm complex.

The official opening ceremony will be held early in the fall term. Look for announcements in the HEx.

HEX Distribution Every Tuesday
HIS Huskies, please look for the HEx (Husky Express) to come out every Tuesday after lunch.

Publishing the HUSKY is a major job and we thank contributing teachers and our IT Coordinator, Mr. Katayama for all the work that goes into keeping you updated each week.

 @ Niseko

Greetings from HIS Niseko.
We hope your students had an enjoyable first week of learning. We are excited to start the school year with our new students. We look forward to a wonderful year of growth with our new and incoming teachers.

Our school year is off to a flying start. This winter, over thirty students will learn in our international school. We are quite proud of our slow and steady growth and our secure place in the Niseko community.

As our Head of School writes;”...the Niseko students are attending the best school imaginable, in one of the most beautiful places, surrounded by the commitment of so many adults.”

I am quite proud to be able to lead this amazing school.
