Soroptimist Recognition Ceremony:
An after-school ceremony was held last Wednesday to recognize the HIS Junior Class as an official S-Club of Sapporo Chuo Soroptimist Association. Recognition as a “club” of the organization allows the Junior Class to be annual recipients of donation monies provided by this well-known women’s business and charitable support organization. Soroptimist donated ¥50,000 to the most recent Junior Class Service Trip to Cambodia. At the Recognition Ceremony, an additional ¥60,000 was provided and will be set aside for next year’s Junior Service Trip.

HIS is thankful to the members of Soroptimist who have generously committed to the long-term support of the service learning trips of future junior classes.

Financial Assistance:
Financial Assistance Applications will be available from the school office from Tuesday, April 2 ~ to Monday, April 30.
HIS Financial Assistance is designed to support families who find themselves in temporary need of support.
Please ask office staff for an application packet.

May 2 - ALL DAY Conference Day
Please note a change to the calendar from a ½ of instruction to no instruction for May 2.
Teachers and administration made a decision to make May 2 an all-day student-parent-teacher conference day so that more time would be available to families to meet with teachers.
There will be no instruction on May 2nd.

Bus Parking:
In the morning, please avoid parking your car directly in front of the school as the bus needs to pull in to drop of children there. Usually this is at 8:15 ~ 8:20 AM.
Thank you for your cooperation.

After School Pick Up
A reminder that the MPR is not a suitable place for students to run and play after school.
Students should be picked up by 3:40 each day. If you remain in the building until 4:00, please remember to keep your child by your side and not allow them to run about in the MPR. It is potentially dangerous and is disruptive to teachers who are often in meetings after school.
Now that the property is (almost) clear of snow, we invite you to take your child to the backfield to play with their friends before you take them home. Remember though that students there should remain under the direct supervision of their parents. Thanks very much for your understanding.

2018-2019 Secondary Course Selections
In the next few days, secondary students will bring home their course selection sheets for 2018-2019. Please be sure to review these with your child and return them to me by May 1st, 2018.

AP Exam Payment
Students taking AP exams this year should pay their fees by April 6th this week. Payment can be made at the school office. Please provide exact change.

Congratulations to all the winners but congratulations to everyone who played, coached or managed a team this year. There were well over 100 people who attended and a big thanks to all members of H.A.A. who helped out in so many different ways.
We appreciate all that you do !
HUGE thanks to Mrs Bossaer, Ms Tanya, Mrs Oda, Mrs Shibuya and all their assistants who had the job of preparing and serving the food to feed all those people.
Special thanks to Sports Officer Ayumi who was superbly efficient and capable in the many tasks she did to prepare for this event. Also, it was her initiative that has led to the creation of the Wall of Fame that will honour all teams who have won a championship at a tournament … only 8 in Husky history !
